Hello my lovely friends! Happy bank holiday Monday for those of you in the UK, and happy May for the rest of the world! I did my best to try and squeeze in this last post towards the very end of April, but we didn’t quite make it, unfortunately! My apologies for that. It’s mainly due to me having deadlines coming out of my ears, as well as a holiday to Paris, and I recently received some unfortunate news in the family. It’s been a lot, and a bit of a mad and emotionally intense end to a very busy last month. I also have my newsletter coming your way very soon, it’s also a bit later than usual, but please keep your eyes out for that!
If you caught my last paid post, you’ll remember we wandered together through the playful pages of my sketchbook, exploring a collection of experimental spring mouse characters. That little adventure led to one special sketch…a cosy little mouse all snuggled up in a dreamy nest of feathers, twigs, and spring flowers. I just had to paint him!
Today’s post is a treat for those of you who love watching the magic unfold, because I filmed the whole painting process! It was such a fun and interesting journey. Think rich textures, vibrant and muted colour experiments, washes, atmosphere, and even some digital editing. And the best part is that I didn’t stop at just one final piece! You get to see a couple of versions and decide which one you prefer!
Pop into the comments and let me know your favourite - I love hearing what you guys think.
To remind you of the stages of this project before the final painting, you can find each sketched process below.
So, let’s take a deeper dive into how I got to the end painting. And this way you’ll be able to gain further insights into my artistic process, my inspiration, and the materials I use. Enjoy, my loves!
